Project Overview
The Nifty Fifties A-Z is an alphabetical card set themed during the 1950s. The aesthetics and concept designs were meant to bring the nostalgic romantic era, educating and influencing audiences to understand the iconic events that help bring what we have today. The goal is to highlight the important influences of historical events to educate the audiences, for this concept focuses on showcasing retro design elements while blending them with modern minimalism to create timeless, influential style.
Project Approach
Focusing on icons and important events throughout the 1950s. Images and illustrations are kept very simplistic yet following the new modern aesthetics throughout the layout. Colors consist of natural pastels colors such as pink, blue, green and yellow, which were heavily used throughout advertising due to a post-war shift towards optimism and a design for comfort and leisure. The box design focused more on collages of pages taken from a magazine between the 1940s-1960s. Main title was created out of ribbons, keeping the overall style elegant and romantic.
